AutoCAD Mechanical Masterclass teaches you how to create accurate mechanical drawings faster with AutoCAD Mechanical, the specialised version of AutoCAD built for mechanical engineering and manufacturing. AutoCAD Mechanical adds standards-based parts libraries, mechanical layers, power dimensioning, balloons and bills of materials, and tools for generating standard components such as fasteners, shafts and springs. The masterclass is designed for mechanical engineers, designers, draughtspersons and technicians who produce detailed manufacturing drawings.

You will start with an introduction to technical drawing using AutoCAD Mechanical, setting up drawings to industry standards, understanding the interface and using mechanical drawing tools to create accurate 2D part geometry and orthographic views. You will insert standard parts from the content library and use generators for common machine elements. Next you will learn to analyse technical drawings, working with assemblies, hidden lines, section and detail views, and checking designs for accuracy and fit.

The final topic covers drafting design documentation and specifications, applying power dimensioning, tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing symbols, surface finish annotations, balloons and parts lists, and preparing title blocks and drawing sheets for manufacturing. Every topic is hands-on with realistic mechanical projects. By the end of the masterclass, you will be able to produce professional, standards-compliant mechanical drawings and documentation in AutoCAD Mechanical efficiently.

Basic computer and file-management skills are expected. Familiarity with basic technical drawing and drafting concepts will help you follow the exercises.

Software Requirement

Install and test the listed software before class. Confirm the required version and account or licence access in your joining instructions. Cloud and AI services may charge subscription or usage fees.

Hardware Requirement

Bring a laptop/workstation that meets Autodesk system requirements for the installed version, with a power adaptor and mouse. A Windows computer is required for Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, 3ds Max and AutoCAD specialised toolsets. Confirm graphics, memory and storage before class.
