What's This Course About

AutoCAD Electrical Masterclass teaches you how to design, document and manage electrical control systems efficiently with AutoCAD Electrical, the specialised version of AutoCAD built for electrical engineers and designers. AutoCAD Electrical includes libraries of standard symbols, automatic wire numbering and component tagging, cross-referencing and report generation, which save significant time and reduce errors compared with drafting schematics in standard AutoCAD. The masterclass is designed for electrical engineers, designers, draughtspersons and technicians.

You will start with an introduction to technical drawing using AutoCAD Electrical, setting up projects and drawings, understanding the interface and using symbol libraries to insert components into schematic diagrams. You will create ladder diagrams, add wires and wire numbers, and work with multi-line circuits and PLC input and output modules. Next you will learn to analyse technical drawings, using cross-references, component tagging, terminal strips and error-checking tools to ensure your schematics are accurate and consistent.

The final topic covers drafting design documentation and specifications, creating panel layouts, generating bills of materials, wire lists and terminal reports automatically, applying drawing standards and title blocks, and publishing your project. Every topic is hands-on with realistic electrical control projects. By the end of the masterclass, you will be able to produce professional electrical schematics, panel layouts and reports in AutoCAD Electrical with speed and accuracy.

Basic computer and file-management skills are expected. Familiarity with basic technical drawing and drafting concepts will help you follow the exercises.

Software Requirement

Install and test the listed software before class. Confirm the required version and account or licence access in your joining instructions. Cloud and AI services may charge subscription or usage fees.

Hardware Requirement

Bring a laptop/workstation that meets Autodesk system requirements for the installed version, with a power adaptor and mouse. A Windows computer is required for Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, 3ds Max and AutoCAD specialised toolsets. Confirm graphics, memory and storage before class.
