Dr. Muhammed Siraj is a cybersecurity specialist and academic with 15 years of experience, serving as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Informatics and Director of Graduate and Continuous Education at Academic City University in Accra. He holds a PhD in Security in Computing from Universiti Putra Malaysia, where his research focused on blockchain security, an MSc in Information and Communication Technology from Aalborg University in Denmark, and a degree from the University of Ghana. He is a licensed independent assessor with Ghana's Cyber Security Authority, holds leadership roles in national cybersecurity and privacy professional bodies, and is certified as a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) and Certified Data Protection Supervisor (CDPS). Before joining Academic City, he served as Acting Director of ICT and Data Protection Supervisor at Wisconsin International University College. His expertise spans penetration testing, digital forensics, incident response, malware analysis, cryptography, cloud and IoT security, zero trust architecture, cyber threat intelligence, data protection, and governance, risk and compliance.
Dr. Siraj's research interests cover blockchain, cybersecurity, distributed computing, consensus protocols and machine learning, with published work on blockchain consensus security, smart-contract privacy preservation for sensitive records in the cloud, and new consensus mechanisms. This background gives him a distinctive perspective on artificial intelligence: as organisations adopt AI tools, agents and data-driven automation, he helps learners understand how to protect the data these systems depend on, recognise new attack surfaces, and put sound governance, privacy and access controls in place so that AI can be used safely and responsibly. In the classroom he connects technical practice with regulation, privacy and human factors, drawing on real-world security and data-protection cases to show how concepts apply in professional settings, and his experiential, hands-on teaching style has made him a trusted trainer for students and working professionals alike.
C remains the language closest to the hardware, and Dr. Alfred Ang's work regularly reaches down to that level even when the finished product is written in something friendlier. Dr. Ang is a full-stack AI developer, Agentic AI solution architect and corporate trainer, and the CTO of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd in Singapore, the training organisation behind Tertiary Courses. The role runs from front end and back end to databases, cloud deployment and native mobile apps, and more than 300 public repositories on GitHub document it. The projects nearest to C involve microcontrollers and performance. Dr. Ang built a low-code, self-hosted IoT platform powered by n8n that connects Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi devices over MQTT and HTTP, along with native iOS and Android companion apps for controlling devices and reading telemetry; the firmware side of that world is where C-style programming lives. Two fractal-art generators, one using Metal on iPhone and iPad and another using OpenGL ES on Android, render Mandelbrot, Julia and related sets directly on the GPU, where memory layout and tight loops matter. Sudoku apps for both platforms generate puzzles on the device with guaranteed unique solutions, a classic exercise in arrays and recursion. Dr. Ang's command-line tooling, including published Claude Code skills, reflects the same comfort with compilers, terminals and build steps. None of these projects is a pure C codebase, and Dr. Ang says so plainly, but they share the low-level thinking this course is designed to build.
In class, that thinking is paired with AI coding assistants so that learners grasp C fundamentals faster without skipping the hard parts. The first topic introduces C and vibe coding, sets up a C compiler alongside Cursor, GitHub Copilot and Claude, and works through variables, data types, operators and control flow, then functions, debugging and asking AI to explain code line by line. The second topic tackles what makes C distinctive: arrays, strings and structs, then pointers and memory management, where an AI assistant is most helpful as a patient explainer and most dangerous as an unchecked author. Learners build a command-line application and finish by testing, compiling and running the project, reading compiler warnings rather than ignoring them. Dr. Ang uses the AI to generate examples and alternative explanations, but insists that learners trace pointer behaviour and memory allocation by hand before accepting any suggestion, because a subtle memory error in C does not announce itself the way a typo does. The teaching style is patient and practical, with frequent short exercises and live debugging of the mistakes learners actually make. Students, embedded and IoT hobbyists, and developers coming from higher-level languages all benefit from seeing how a program really uses memory. Participants leave with a working command-line program and a far clearer mental model of what happens underneath their code.
