Dr. Muhammed Siraj is a cybersecurity specialist and academic with 15 years of experience, serving as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Informatics and Director of Graduate and Continuous Education at Academic City University in Accra. He holds a PhD in Security in Computing from Universiti Putra Malaysia, where his research focused on blockchain security, an MSc in Information and Communication Technology from Aalborg University in Denmark, and a degree from the University of Ghana. He is a licensed independent assessor with Ghana's Cyber Security Authority, holds leadership roles in national cybersecurity and privacy professional bodies, and is certified as a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) and Certified Data Protection Supervisor (CDPS). Before joining Academic City, he served as Acting Director of ICT and Data Protection Supervisor at Wisconsin International University College. His expertise spans penetration testing, digital forensics, incident response, malware analysis, cryptography, cloud and IoT security, zero trust architecture, cyber threat intelligence, data protection, and governance, risk and compliance.
Dr. Siraj's research interests cover blockchain, cybersecurity, distributed computing, consensus protocols and machine learning, with published work on blockchain consensus security, smart-contract privacy preservation for sensitive records in the cloud, and new consensus mechanisms. This background gives him a distinctive perspective on artificial intelligence: as organisations adopt AI tools, agents and data-driven automation, he helps learners understand how to protect the data these systems depend on, recognise new attack surfaces, and put sound governance, privacy and access controls in place so that AI can be used safely and responsibly. In the classroom he connects technical practice with regulation, privacy and human factors, drawing on real-world security and data-protection cases to show how concepts apply in professional settings, and his experiential, hands-on teaching style has made him a trusted trainer for students and working professionals alike.
Few combinations have powered as much of the web as PHP and MySQL, and Dr. Alfred Ang works with that stack in production every day. Dr. Ang is CTO of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd in Singapore, the training organisation behind Tertiary Courses, and a full-stack AI developer, Agentic AI solution architect and corporate trainer who builds complete systems across front end, back end, databases, cloud deployment and native mobile apps. The most directly relevant project is the course-registration LMS that runs the Tertiary Courses websites in Singapore, Malaysia and Ghana. It is built on OpenMage with PHP 8.2 and MySQL, containerised with Docker and deployed through Coolify, with a single codebase serving each partner site and its own database. That platform involves exactly the work this course teaches: forms and user input, sessions and authentication, relational schema design, SQL queries and numbered database migrations that must run safely on every server. Much of its recent development has been carried out with AI coding assistants, which has made careful review of AI-generated PHP and SQL an everyday discipline. Dr. Ang also publishes Claude Code skills, including a secret scanner, and has built other database-backed web apps on PostgreSQL, from an ERP prototype to an HR and accounting platform. With more than 300 public repositories at github.com/alfredang, Dr. Ang brings a realistic picture of what AI gets right in PHP and MySQL, and where a developer still needs to step in.
That experience shapes a course focused on building working applications, not memorising syntax. Learners set up PHP, MySQL and AI coding assistants such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot and Claude, write a first PHP script from a prompt and learn how to phrase requests so the generated code is clear and secure. PHP fundamentals follow: variables, data types and operators, control flow, loops and functions, and handling forms and user input, with AI used to explain and debug each piece. The third topic turns to MySQL, designing a database, writing SQL queries with AI assistance, connecting PHP to MySQL and reviewing and refactoring the generated code. Finally, learners build and secure a database-driven web app with sessions and authentication, test and improve it with AI and deploy it. Because Dr. Ang maintains a large PHP and MySQL platform in production, the sessions dwell on the habits that matter in real projects: parameterised queries to prevent SQL injection, password hashing, validating every input and never trusting AI-generated code until it has been read, run and tested. Teaching follows a simple loop of describe, generate, review and refine, with short demonstrations followed by plenty of hands-on building and debugging of each learner's own code. Learners leave with a working PHP and MySQL application and a dependable workflow for vibe coding the next one. Dr. Ang also shows how to ask an AI assistant to explain unfamiliar code before changing it, a habit that prevents many subtle bugs in larger projects.
